How many couples do you know that have arguments over plants? Well, you can help resolve this one. Eric and Danielle Wotzak have been renovating this fantastic house in Northport, New York, for the past year, and now they’re starting to think about what to do in the front yard. One thing Eric is sure of is that he wants to rip out this hydrangea, because he thinks it crowds the porch steps. Dani, on the other hand, is equally determined to keep it. Whose side are you on?

Spice up containers with more than just plants

Along with being a master at combining plants (see yesterday’s post), Minnesota garden designer Scott Endres also knows his way around a container, as you’ll see in the next three days. In today’s example, he’s created a miniature landscape of succulents in a low dish, but he doesn’t stop with plants. He’s also added a small sculpture, some shiny black marbles, and a few seashells. It all adds up to a fascinating tableau that’s a sure conversation piece on his back patio.
